Docks and Coastal Management Committee

Present: Steve Sauter, Paul Flottman, Steve Chomeau, Tim Nelson, John Cox and
Dockmaster Keith Lindstrand  
Absent: None
Guest: Hugh Milelinger
 
Committee reviewed budget as presented by Harbormaster Keith Lindstrand.
 
Motion by Sauter to approve budget for 2011 as presented by Lindstrand
Second: Chomeau, all ayes, motion carried.
 
Discussion of how to regulate and facilitate our public waterfront to contain and allow for the
use of non-power water craft ie kayaks canoes wind surfers and the like. Can we and should
we differentiate between “commercial” and “personal” use of these “green” craft, staging and
launching from public land. Should this committee consider creating a “green” launch area at
the firehouse dock location? If so should fees be charged? All questions to ponder over the
winter.
 
Discussed merits of providing bicycles for use by transient boaters. Most marinas provide
that service. Nelson cautioned we must check on liability issues.
 
Discussed potential for establishing a weather station either at Firehouse or Anderson dock or
both, with wind speed and web cam to allow patrons to check on their boats and potential
weather concerns from off site locations.
 
Motion by Chomeau to adjourn this meeting of the Coastal Management Committee,
seconded by Tim Nelson, all ayes, motion carried.
