Sue Sherman-Trustee

ssherman@ephraim-wisconsin.com

Trustee, Chairman of Physical Facilities Committee, Member of Board of Appeals, Personnel Committee

My husband Steve and I have been residents of Ephraim, and owners of the Village Green Lodge on Cedar Street, for the past 10 years. We have been married for 33 years and have 2 sons. Prior to living in Ephraim, we worked in the Milwaukee area, and lived in Colgate, Wisconsin. For 20 years I worked at Security Bank, the last 10 years as assistant vice president and regional manager for 10 branch locations.

I have always felt that it is important to be a responsible and supportive corporate partner in the community in which I live.  I have been an active board member of the Ephraim Business Council for the past 10 years, serving in various positions from president to treasurer.  I have a strong commitment to preserving the natural beauty, and historic charm of the village, while being open to controlled economic growth.

Jane Olson-Trustee

jolson@ephraim-wisconsin.com

Trustee, Chairman of Community Protection Committee, Member of Library Committee, Physical Facilities Committee, Personnel Committee

My first visit to Ephraim was in 1964, when Lloyd Olson hired me as a waitress for Pine Grove Resort. In 1967, I married Howard Olson, Lloyd's son. Howard and I ran the Pine Grove Resort in the summer and lived in Neenah, Wisconsin, in the off-season, where I taught for the Neenah Joint School District. Howard and I purchased land in Ephraim in 1970; in 2000, we decided to retire here and built our retirement home.

I am the newest member of the Board of Trustees. I have been interested in the inner workings of our village government and have attended the Village Board of Trustees meetings for more than a year. Currently I serve on three village committees:  the Library Committee, Community Protection, and the Physical Facilities and Utilities Committee. I have chaired the Ad Hoc Library Committee and have attended most of the County Library Board meetings.

As for my personal agenda, I have a very limited one. I wanted to become a member of the Board of Trustees for the following reasons:

* To be of service to my  community.

* To help find a balance between securing Ephraim's future and protecting Ephraim's past and treasured resources.

* To keep the Ephraim Library open to continue the valuable services it provides our citizens, our visitors, and our community.

I look forward to the challenges that being a Trustee will bring and pledge to you that I will face each vote with an open mind and keep only Ephraim's best interest at heart.

Kathy Kirkland-Trustee

kkirkland@ephraim-wisconsin.com

Trustee, Member of Historic Preservation Committee, Planning Committee, Personnel Committee

My roots in Ephraim go back three generations, when my great-uncle, Dr. David Stevens, bought land in Ephraim in 1915. I spent summers growing up here, and the Kirkland family is now in its fifth generation in the Village. In my work experience, I've been editor of consumer and trade magazines.  My 18-year stint in the entertainment industry introduced me to social causes, politics, and non-profit organizations; those experiences taught me how to set goals and move forward with challenging causes.

I was new to the Board of Trustees in 2006.  Since I moved here in 2001, I have attended many meetings and taken and transcribed minutes for the Board and Wastewater.  I have been a member of the Historic Preservation Committee since 2003 as well as the current chair of Smart Growth's Issues & Opportunities Committee, an ongoing commitment. These activities—as well as former Trustee of Ephraim Moravian Church, my work with the Ephraim Business Council, and member of the Ephraim Historical Foundation—have helped immerse me in the workings of the Village.   I am also involved with the Tourism Zone Commission, the group that administers Door County's Room Tax, as their Administrative Assistant.

I have no personal agenda for gain or loss, but I am aware that our Village has the potential for both gains and losses in the future.  I will always guard Ephraim's unique appeal, and I look forward to promoting new ideas within the Board and from fellow citizens—and watching the Village of Ephraim prosper.
